Born at home in the hills outside of Berea, Kentucky on July 22, 1921, mom died at home on Bittersweet Farm outside of Bloomington, Indiana December 28, 2023. Our mother lived a life of romance and adventure as the wife of a US Naval officer and the mother of eight. The original fashionista, she was graced with impeccable style and taste. She was an avid reader and particularly loved books about history, government, and women who made significant changes in American life. Her sense of humor will keep us laughing as long as we are here to tell her stories. Her travels led her all over the world from Europe to South America, from Mexico to Turkey, but her favorite trip was the one she made most frequently with our father across the great United States to her adopted home state of California where she adored the beaches and the desert, the people, and especially the beautiful weather, sitting outside on the patio with a cup of coffee was a favorite spot. Our mother could make any place a home where she welcomed not only family but the many, many, friends of her eight children, several of whom called her mom.

Known as a knowledgeable antique dealer and owner of Bittersweet Farm Antiques in Solsberry, Indiana, she will be deeply missed but much celebrated. She was preceded in death by her parents Lily (Rose) Field and Ralph Wal- do Field, husband Richard Granville Sipe, USN retired, sons Stephen Dale Bailey and Timothy Samuel Bailey, grandson Kristopher Wyant, brothers Russell Jackson Field and Samuel Lincoln Field, infant brother, Frank Field, sisters Martha Belle Moore and Hilda Eugenia Callahan and son-in-law Dr. James B Willett. She is survived by her six daughters Lin Willett, Riki Sipe (Tom Eshleman), Molli Sipe (Mike Connors), Staci Sipe, Juli Sipe, Jami Sipe (Tommy Deleonibus), nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a herd of cats, and her beloved Jack Russell terrier, Lily Rose.

The family wishes to acknowledge the love, support, and joy brought to mother's life by her "adopted" children the late Gary McGee, Mark Bender, Catherine Darriau and Tina Feaster, as well as her antiquing friends and

helpful neighbors.

We appreciate the compassionate care of IU Hospice, Dr. Robert Stone and the staff at Stonecroft Health Campus, where mother made her last new friend, Lydia.

There Will be Stars

There will be stars over this place forever, Though the house we loved and the street we loved are lost, Every time the earth circles her orbit, One the night the equinox is crossed, Two stars we knew, poised on the peak at midnight, Will reach their zenith, stillness will be deep; There will be stars over this place forever, There will be stars forever, while we sleep." by Sara Teasdale
