Gerald Leo Rehmel, 74, of Ellettsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was born in Brazil, Indiana on January 27, 1948 to Orvan L. and Susan J. (Stevenson) Rehmel. Gerald was a 1967 graduate of Shakamak High School. He retired from General Electric after 34 years of service and was a fierce provider, rarely turning down overtime to provide for his family, ensuring that his girls had all of their needs met, and most of their wants as well. Gerald enjoyed working in his garage on woodworking projects, traveling, classic cars, and going out to eat.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 22 years, Margaret Amy Rehmel; daughters, Stacy (George) Kristoff and Wendy (Greg) Crohn; step-sons Brad (Janis) Hough, Taylor (Shelia) Hough, and Grant (Alisa) Hough; step-daughter Alice (Jay) Dreischarf; grandchildren, Maleah Kristoff, Drew Kristoff, Jessica (Kyle) Tapp, Hannah Fox, Stephanie (Brett) Raub, Megan Greth, Jon (Kristen) Greth, Brittany Greth, Justin Greth, Ben (Michelle) Hough, Ethan Hough, George Chapa, Cecelia Dreischarf, Sophia Dreischarf and Tripp Dreischarf; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn (Ron) Crosley and Jane Stout; brothers, Duane (Lisa) Rehmel and Kriss Rehmel; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, brother Verlin Rehmel, brother-in-law Bill Stout, and grandsons Brett Perez and Brandon Greth.

A memorial service to honor Gerald's life will be held at Lifeway Baptist Church on January 24th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Von Bokern officiating. Friends may call at 10:00 a.m. before the service.

In lieu of flowers, Amy has requested that memorial contributions be made to New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center in Spencer, Indiana or Saul to Paul Ministries in Ellettsville, Indiana.
