Jack L. Arthur

Jack L Arthur 88, Spencer, Indiana formally from Oaklandon, Indiana, passed away April 25,2026 He was born February 12, 1938 to Charles L Arthur and Vera Cope of Indianapolis. Jack graduated from Lawrence Central High School in1956. Jack was proud member of IBEW Local #481 for 65 years retiring in February 2000.

He married Sandra Wallace December 2, 1978 which they have worked tirelessly together for nearly 48 years. Side by side, hand in hand building a home on Cordry Sweetwater lake and 2 homes in Spencer one of which was a log cabin which was Jack and Sandy’s pride and joy.

Jack also was a car enthusiast and has restored many vintage cars. 1926 Chevy and his most favorite is his Model A pick up truck. Also he loved wood working and many of his family and friends have treasured wood pieces that he created by hand and with love.

Jack was a proud father of 5 children in which he raised up until his marriage to Sandy. What he was most proud of was how successful each of them turned out in their own way. To say all of his children loved and respected him is an understatement.

He managed to surprise all 5 of his kids with a trip that is most talked about today. A fast and furious trip to see the Winston 500 at Talladega in May 1973. Also you’ll hear his children all saying that there is nothing they would change about their childhood. A father well loved indeed.

No services at this time but we will have a celebration of life to honor Jack is tentatively set for June 13, 2025 with more information to come.

Jack is survived by his wife Sandy of nearly 48 years, son Doug (Nancy), Daughter Terry Muncy, son Gregg(Amy), Daughter Whitey Stout(Jack) he also is survived by 9 grandchildren Jenny Saylor(Nathanael), Justin Muncy(Marcy) Alicia Land(Daniel) Jacque Gardner(Justin) Josh Stout(Lindsey), Ryan Arthur, Shelly Arthur, Jacob Muncy(Molly), Stacy Sherer(Jake) and 12 great grandchildren with number 13 due in July 2026.

Also survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Jerry Arthur(Cathy), Tom Arthur(Annette) Phyllis McCullough.

Preceded in death by his parents Chales and Vera Arthur, sister Carolyn Deford, Sister JoAnn Messersmith, Brother Robert Arthur, oldest son Timothy Arthur, son in law Michael Muncy
