We are saddened to share that our beloved Kyle passed away surrounded by loving family on November 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, creativity, and faith.

Born on March 27, 1970 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Kyle grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where he graduated from Bloomington High School South in 1988. He continued his education at Indiana State University, earning his pilot license and completing his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994. From there, he soon felt called toward what would become the true passion of his life: missionary and service-oriented work.

Kyle's faith was the foundation of his life, shaping his heart of service to others. He gave his life to Christ as a child and was baptized at Camp Olivet. Kyle attended youth group as a teen and during his college years, he served as a student leader with Campus Crusade for Christ. He later returned to Christ Community Church with his wife and young kids, making it his church home by becoming a member, and serving as a deacon and sound technician.

Driven by a calling to serve others, Kyle became a facilities manager at Wheeler Mission after working seven years in the mechanical engineering field. In 2012, he transitioned to a job he thoroughly enjoyed - driving charter buses for several groups including high school and college sports teams, The Happy Travelers, and Watoto Children's Choir. Through all of these roles, Kyle demonstrated his service-oriented nature, touching countless lives with his kindness, humility, and joyful spirit.

Kyle found joy in the simple and beautiful things of life. An avid cyclist, he loved the freedom of the open road and the peace found in nature. He was passionate about music and speakers- always happiest when surrounded by good sound. Creative by nature, Kyle used his gift in craftsmanship to bless others, especially through service to his local church and community, where his handiwork left a lasting impact.

Kyle will be remembered for his quiet nature, his service to others, and the steady, kind presence he offered to everyone around him. He will be deeply missed.

Kyle is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laura; his children, Caleb, Joel (Jaden), and Hannah Groh (John-David) - each of whom he cherished deeply. Kyle was also proud to be a grandfather to Elijah, whose presence brought him immense joy and delight. Kyle is also survived by his brothers Derek Strickler (Angie) and Adam Strickler; his sisters Lauren Tsai (David) and Kristin Farr Meadows (Jeff); his in-laws, Carl and Susan Koch, Carrie and Scott Bruns, and Craig and Amy Koch; as well as 10 nieces and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Wahl Strickler, Dr. Darryl Strickler, and his brother, Trevor Strickler.

A memorial service will be held on December 6, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Christ Community Church (503 S. High St., Bloomington, IN). There will be a visitation with the family held before the service from 1:30-2:30. A livestream of the service will be available for those wishing to honor his life from afar.
