Mark Wayne Foley of Crane, Indiana passed away peacefully September 21, 2021 surrounded by his family. Mark lost his battle with Glioblastoma-Brain Cancer that was diagnosed in May.

Mark was born in Camp Pendleton, CA in February 1961. Mark spent most of his life in Southern Indiana. He grew up in Bloomfield until he joined the Navy in 1979. Mark served in the Navy for 5 years as a Corpsman, stationed in Bermuda and San Diego. Mark married the love of his life –Roanne, in 1981. After leaving the Navy, Mark returned to Bloomfield with wife Roanne where they started their family in 1985. Mark and Roanne moved to Crane in 1993, where they raised their three children--Danielle Latimer (James Latimer), Marissa Foley (Jared Flammer), and Bryan Foley (Megan Foley). Mark and Roanne were married for 30 years before her passing in April of 2016. Mark was the perfect Father. He always provided for his children and loved them with all his heart. His children could count on him for anything. Mark always did the bedtime tuck ins and back rubs. Mark had a game he would play with the kids- Who could say "Ditto" first at bedtime won the game. "Ditto" was their "I Love You Game". This game was also carried on to his grandchildren. Mark also had a fierce love for his grandchildren. Gramp always had a bucket of "monkey money" on his dresser for his grandkids to raid, and you could always count on a meal out in town.

Mark worked for Crane Naval base for almost 37 years. He worked as an EMT after returning from the Navy, and later went to college to be an electronics technician where he worked in the Night Vision and the Electro Optic Technical Division as a lead technician. Mark worked on the Joint Biological Point Detection system used by the Army, along with many other programs. Mark also deployed to Afghanistan as a Sight Representative working with the Air Force for the Preda- tor Program. Mark served as an Employee Advocate for the AFGE Union #1415. Mark was proud of his work and proud to provide for his family. He found joy going to work every day, not only to work, but to spend his days with his work family. We don't think he ever even intended on retiring, he loved his work that much.

A human life is a collection of stories, and Mark Foley has a library full! He was the kindest, most generous, caring, com- ical man you'll ever meet. He had a big personality and was loved by all. He never knew a stranger, and welcomed all to a cup of coffee or holiday meal at his table. He had a love for music and going to concerts. He loved history and travel- ing. We know his most memorable trip was traveling to Hawaii with Roanne. He talked about that in his final days.

In addition to his children, Mark is survived by his 7 grandchildren, Seanna, Ayden, Avyn, & Addy Latimer, Lillian & Olivia Petry, & Jude Flammer; Mother, Viola Foley; siblings, Linda Henry, Mike Foley, Pam Schulte, Sondra Thompson; Father and Mother in-law, Calvin and Carol Smith. Mark is preceded in death by his Father, Frank Foley; Sister, Teresa Campbell; and Brother, Bryan Foley.
