Martie Marie Sowders (Young), age 87, of Bloomington, IN, passed on to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Hearthstone Health Campus in her longtime home of Bloomington, IN. She was of the Christian faith. Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents; Lizzy and McCoy Young, her husband Larry, her infant son, Johnny and her sisters Betty Mae Peach, Jerry Ann Abell, eldest daughter; Linda Mullis (Rick) and son-in-law, Don Fuller.

She is survived by two daughters; Debara Hutcherson (Ricky), of Freedom and Theresea Shipley (Marty) of Bloomington. Son-in-law Rick Mullis, six grandchildren; Diana Griffin (Rob), Ricky Mullis (Kathy), Dale (CJ) Fleming (Brittany), Christopher Flick, Megan Smith (Cameron), Noah Shipley, all of Bloomington, and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:30 am at Pentecostal Faith Assembly; 1301 W. 11th Street, Bloomington, IN, with visitation beginning at 10:30am. Burial will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Indiana Green Burial is overseeing arrangements and Reverend Dr. Diane Wells is officiating.
