Listen to Obituary

Phyllis Ellen Ganz (née Day), age 86, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. Born on December 5, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Albert Stanley Day and Florence (Moon) Morris.

Phyllis was the vibrant matriarch of her family, a woman who truly lived for the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether she was holding court over a competitive game of Euchre or listening for her numbers at Bingo, her spirit was always brightest when she was surrounded by the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adam Edward Ganz Jr.; two sons, Dennis Buechlein Jr. and Daniel Allen Buechlein; her parents; her stepmother Ida; her brothers, Jack, James, and Kenneth Day; and her stepbrother, Eddie Johnson. She is also reunited in peace with her grandson, Christopher, and her great-granddaughter, Emma.

Phyllis is survived by her five children: Teresa Ray, Steven Day, Thomas Ganz (Anna), Annette McQueen, and Susan Ganz. Her legacy of love and laughter continues through her thirteen grandchildren:  Ashley (Nick) Powell, Matthew Ray, Brandon Ray, Pamela (Jared) Inman, Daniel Day, Jacob Helton-Ganz, Nathaniel Ganz, Kathryn (Dakota) Kelley, Zack (Sara) McQueen, Alicia (Devon) Cornett, Logan (Libby) Cranfill, Adam (Becca) Ganz III, and Brycen Kinser.

She was the cherished Great Grandmother to seventeen great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Reece, William, Colton, Hope, Blake, Elainey, Zaden, Uriah, Mason, Ryder, Remi, Oliver, Athena, Matthew, Greyson, and Janie, with one more arrival expected soon.

Phyllis also leaves behind her siblings, Brenda King and Lee Johnson; her stepsister, Della Shipman; and her sisters-in-law, Judith Day and Sue Day. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her warmth and sharp wit.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the women of Edgewood Village Apartments—Carol, Rosemary, Regina, Liz, and Joyce. Your friendship, support, and "taxi services" over the last couple of years meant the world to Phyllis and provided her with comfort and independence that the family deeply appreciates.
