Steve Wade Hamilton of Bloomington, IN. Passed away at 92 Friday, July 16th, 2021 peacefully in his home.

Steve was born in the small town Yanush, OK to Wadie and Callie Hamilton. He was one of five brothers and sisters - Blanche, Frank, Ruth and Jaunita. He was proud of the simple lifestyle his family led and "would do it all over." He was also very proud of being a registered Cherokee Indian.

He attended school in Buffalo Valley and at the age of 19 he enlisted in the Army being deployed to Germany for 6 years then re-enlisted with the Air Force remaining in Germany for another 4 years.

On a visit to his sister in Bloomington IN, Steve decided to lay down his roots finally marrying Jean Hamilton, he says, "the love of his life". They were married 59 years this past June 19th. Steve was a man of many skills. He was the business owner of The Little Injun, Hamilton Cleaners, and Young World along with managing Strong's Liquors, Wicks Lumber of Bloomfield, and lastly he was responsible for the maintenance department of the Indiana University Library where he retired.

His personal interests were construction and physical fitness. Steve was running 5K races and going to the gym 6 days a week until this past year.

He leaves behind four daughters: Karen (Dennis) Hunt, Belleville, IL; Pamela Breeden (Karen Ackeret), Bloomington IN; Stefani (Dan) Dawson, Boise ID; Stepdaughter Laura Lee, Ellettsville, IN.

Grandchildren; Laura Ludwig, Matt Hunt, Sierra Dawson, Sydney Dawson, Jeremi Swango, Kyle Hanna. Great-Grandchildren; Katie Ludwig, Jacob Ludwig, Jacob Swango.

Preceded in death by parents, siblings, and grandson, Preston Ward Rush.

Steve's celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday (Tomorrow) at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 2655 S. Adam St; Bloomington, IN 47403.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in his honor.
