Steven O. Forrest died (1961-2020) in his apartment in Bloomington, Indiana. He attended IU-Bloomington and studied Math and Philosophy. He worked at the IU Sciences Library for almost 25 years before his health issues became too much.
Steven was an advocate of knowledge based on science. His sister Kate remembers, "He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge so much so that he had to carry his library books back and forth with a suitcase!" He despised the lack of reasoning that Trump possesses. He was a big fan of Bill Nye The Science Guy, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Trevor Noah, Mister Rogers, Nova and Nature on PBS. He was an adamant reader of books and liked to watch the C-Span Book Collection on television. He liked chess and scrabble. He was a big fan of the television series The Big Bang Theory. He was a lot like Sheldon – very smart with a silly wit. He loved to listen to classical music with Beethoven being his favorite followed closely by Mozart and Bach. He was a recycler of things and tried to leave a small footprint of waste on this planet. He walked and rode his bike for decades before he was gifted a used Prius Hybrid and was still concerned of the environmental fossil fuel damage it contributed. He liked flowers especially with a blue hue. He was fascinated by the Fibonacci sequence. He played guitar and had a hilarious dry wit. He made his sister Maureen laugh so hard playing racquetball that she fell on the court in tears of laughter. Growing up he and his friends, especially Norm Legge, made us all laugh so hard as he was gifted with the sense of seeing the humor in absurdity. When he hugged you he really meant it. He is already missed.
Steve is survived by his sisters Maureen Forrest (Jess Gwinn), Kate Forrest, and brother Mike Forrest. He was preceded in death by both parents, Joan (Delaney) Forrest, and Frank Forrest.
Cremation Rites have been accorded and his ashes will be spread around various libraries and higher education establishments.
His extended family will get together at a later time to celebrate his life.
