IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Magdaline
Ryan
August 11, 1939 – October 21, 2024
Virginia Magdaline Ryan died peacefully at Bloomington Hospital on October 21st, 2024 at the age of 85.
She was born and raised in Weleetka, Oklahoma, but spent most of her life in Southern California and Indiana.
Virginia was born to Wesley Watts and Pansy Tiger on August 11th, 1939, in Weleetka, Oklahoma, as part of the Muscogee Creek Nation.
Her early years were spent on the Indian reservation with brother and sister, Buddy and Marilyn, respectively. She was a dedicated mother and wife, having raised 4 children with her husband, Robert Ryan (also deceased). She is survived by her daughter, Debra Kingston; son, Nick Ryan; and many grandchildren.
In their early marriage Robert was very involved in his military service which led them to live and to visit in places like Australia and Japan. After some years and leaving the service, Virginia and Bob settled down in Chino, CA to raise their children. It was not long after Debra moved to Indiana, that her and Bob followed suit in 1998.
Oftentimes, the weekends were picturesque: Bob grilling on the back deck, Virginia setting her pitcher of sun tea out to steep, and the rest of the family lounging about the living room. She enjoyed cooking for the family, making copious meatloafs, spaghetti, and of course Mexican food like her famous enchiladas.
Most weekends involving their grandchildren, Garret and Olivia, were either staying up to catch fireflies or to watch movies as always expected.
As Virginia and Bob established their later life in Indiana, they became increasingly involved in the Moose and America Legion. Every year they dressed up as Mr. And Mrs. Clause, and handed presents out to the children. Every Sunday they passed out papers at bingo. Eventually, they were there almost every day.
After the passing of Bob in 2017, Virginia- became restless; over the next few years she lived with her daughter, Debra and son and daughter-in-law, Wes Ryan and Rosanne Cunningham. For her remaining time she moved to Autumn Park Senior Community, in Ellettsville, Indiana. She became very close with both the residents and the staff, often enjoying craft making or dinner with a little tea.
Virginia passed away with her family at her side, and ready to be reunited with her husband; children; and siblings, remembered by her generosity, stubbornness, and never-quit attitude.
She wished to be cremated. No memorial service will be held at this time.
